A crucible is a cup that is used to hold a sample in a high temperature furnace. Crucibles can be made from alumina, zirconia or silicon carbide. This depends on the type of application it is used in. Ceramic crucibles are chemically and physically stable at high temperatures, and are thus used for working with materials that are worked at very high temperatures, such as metals and glasses.
Applications:
– Melting metals
– Research
– Quality control
